EBA presents new study on mapping Swedish aid to children and children’s rights.

January 28, 2026

The Expert Group for Aid Analysis (EBA) has launched a new study mapping Swedish aid to children and the promotion of children’s rights. Highlighting a lack of a comprehensive overview of the level of focus placed on children in practice, the study will address this gap by looking at proportion, distribution and the strategic focus of Swedish aid toward children and children’s rights.

The Expert Group for Aid Analysis (EBA) has launched a new study mapping Swedish aid to children and the promotion of children’s rights. This comes at a time when children and young people under the age of 18 remain a particularly vulnerable group in many parts of the world.

Aid to children has long been a priority in Swedish aid policy. However, EBA highlights a lack of a comprehensive overview of the level of focus placed on children in practice.

To address this gap, the study is guided by two overarching questions: the proportion and distribution of Swedish aid directed towards children and children’s rights, and how children’s rights have been reflected in the governance and strategic focus of Swedish aid over time.

Based on register data, policy documents and interviews with key actors, the study will identify how much of Sweden’s aid was allocated to initiatives targeting children during the period 2015-2025.
