Start date: March 20, 2025

On 20 March 2025, join SweDev and Communication for Development, Malmö University for a workshop titled ‘’Teaching development studies at a time of multiple crises’’.

The crises of global development, higher education and teaching development studies have created an almost perfect storm at the heart of SWEDEV and its members. Development and humanitarian policy and practice is changing all over OECD countries, the crisis in higher education is affecting developing research and teaching while questions of how to engage with “development” in institutions in the “Global North” are more pressing than ever.

While we will not be able to solve these challenges in one afternoon, but we want to provide a space to discuss them with interested colleagues from across SWEDEV, students of MAU’s Communication for Development (ComDev) MA program, ComDev researchers and teachers as well as Leonardo Custódio who joins us from in Finland’s Åbo Akademi University.

You are welcome to join us, in MAU’s Niagara building next to Malmö C or online on Zoom, and reflect on the question:

What does it mean for you to teach global development studies in 2025?

Agenda for the afternoon:

  • 12:00-13:00 Lunch + networking
  • 13:00-15:30 Workshop + fika
  • 15:30-16:30 Book launch Art Against Authoritarianism in Southwest Asia and North Africa

Please note that the deadline to register is 13 March 2025.
