On 11 March 2025, join the WHO Collaborating Center on Migration and Health Data and Evidence at Uppsala university, the Migration Studies Delegation (Delmi) and the Expert Group for Aid Studies (EBA) for a seminar, in Swedish, titled ‘’ Health Challenges During the Migration Process – How Does Sweden Address Them?’’ (in Swedish: Hälsoutmaningar under migrationsprocessen – hur hanterar Sverige dessa?). The seminar focuses on the health challenges faced by migrants during their migration journey and how Sweden addresses these challenges.

About the seminar

Dr. Palmira Immordino from the World Health Organization’s (WHO) regional office in Europe will start by presenting WHO’s work on migration and health at both regional and global levels. This will be followed by a few short presentations and a concluding panel discussion.

During the seminar, Delmi will present a newly launched Policy Brief, Health of Detainees and Alternatives to Detention, based on a WHO knowledge overview, as well as a chapter from an EBA anthology: An anthology of trends and perspectives on global health. The aim of the event is to bring together policymakers and practitioners to discuss health-related challenges for migrants during their journey, with a particular focus on Sweden.
