We at SweDev are pleased to welcome the Division of Social Science at Luleå University of Technology (LTU) as our new institutional support member. As our northernmost member, LTU further strengthens SweDev’s national reach, spanning Swedish universities from south to north.

Luleå University of Technology

The Division of Social Sciences at LTU offers a multidisciplinary academic environment, including four research and education subjects: Political Science, Law, Economics, and History. The research milieu is vibrant and mainly focused on the governance, economics, jurisprudence, and history of the environment, natural resources, energy, and social acceptance.

The Division has about 75 employees and admits close to 500 students annually to its bachelor-, masters-, and PhD programs. The Division also offers numerous independent courses on bachelor-, masters-, and PhD-level. A significant proportion of the research is externally funded and takes place in close collaboration with a wide national and international network, society, public actors and the business community.

What is an institutional support member?

To build a strong development research network, SweDev has institutional support members across Sweden that contribute to the network and its activities. Together with the institutional support members, SweDev creates cooperation and activities across institutions. Institutional support members have a representative in SweDev’s steering committee and are thereby guiding SweDev’s activity plan and engagement.
