On May 6, the annual event Folk och Forskning, organised by Public & Science Sweden (Vetenskap & Allmänhet), will take place in Uppsala. This year’s overarching theme is Knowledge for Resilience, bringing together participants from research, civil society, politics, the public sector, and the business community.
The event will serve as a meeting place for dialogue on evidence-informed decision-making. It will bring together researchers, policymakers, and representatives from civil society to discuss societal challenges and explore possible solutions. The aim is to clarify what scientific knowledge exists and how it can be applied in practice. The event will also look at how conflicting evidence from different fields can shape decisions, what options may be available, and where knowledge gaps remain, with the goal of supporting well-informed democratic decision-making.
A central focus of this year’s programme is evidence-informed decision-making in times of crisis. The day begins with a joint introduction on this topic, followed by a series of round-table discussions. Participants – whether researchers, politicians, practitioners, representatives of organisations, or members of the public – are invited to take part in these dialogues.
The round-table discussions will address different aspects of resilience, preparedness, and sustainability, including themes such as food preparedness, social resilience, climate preparedness, and health preparedness.
Organisations interested in hosting or contributing to a round-table discussion are encouraged to contact the organisers at .
The event will be held in Swedish.
