Call for Abstracts: 2026 SANORD Conference

September 22-25, 2026, the University of Namibia (UNAM) will host the annual scientific conference of the Southern African-Nordic Centre (SANORD) in Windhoek, Namibia. SANORD invites scholars, practitioners, policymakers, and students to submit abstracts for paper and poster presentations that align with the conference themes. Abstracts must be submitted no later than 10 April 2026.

September 22-25, 2026, the University of Namibia (UNAM) will host the annual scientific conference of the Southern African-Nordic Centre (SANORD) in Windhoek, Namibia. SANORD invites scholars, practitioners, policymakers, and students to submit abstracts for paper and poster presentations. 

Theme: Reimagining Knowledge for Shared Development 

The 2026 theme highlights the transformative power of knowledge systems in shaping equitable, just, and sustainable futures. The conference aims to bring together actors from the Global South and North to interrogate dominant paradigms and co-create pathways toward shared development. 

Conference Sub-Themes 

  1. Health, well-being, and resilient communities 
  1. Economic transformation, entrepreneurship, and future skills 
  1. Epistemic justice, social justice, and inclusive knowledge systems 
  1. Governance, policy reform, and collaborative partnerships for global impact 
  1. Innovation, digital transformation, and emerging technologies and higher education 
  1. Global citizenship, multiculturalism, and the internationalisation of higher education 
  1. Climate change, energy transitions, and sustainable development (including oil and gas and green hydrogen futures) 

Submission of Abstracts for Papers and Poster Presentations 

The organisers encourage submissions that align with the conference themes. Abstracts must be submitted no later than 10 April 2026 and should follow the guidelines below: 

  1. Abstracts should not exceed 300 words 
  1. Include author names, institutional affiliations, and contact details. 
  1. Indicate your presentation type (paper, poster) 
  1. Submit via the SANORD 2026 email address  
  1. Deadline: 10 April 2026
